Ingredients

Scale

For the Pound Cake:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 ¾ cups granulated sugar
6 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
½ cup sour cream

For the Vanilla Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
4 tbsp heavy cream (or milk, adjust for consistency)
1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Mix in vanilla extract.
  6. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk + sour cream, starting and ending with flour.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared Bundt pan.
  8. Bake for 75-85 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.

Notes

  • Make sure the butter, eggs, and milk are at room temperature to ensure smooth batter incorporation.
  • Don’t overmix the batter to maintain a light, tender crumb.
  • You can experiment with other flavors like almond extract or lemon zest in the glaze.
  • The cake stays moist for several days, making it great for make-ahead or leftovers.
  • For a unique twist, serve with fresh berries or a scoop of ice cream.
