Description

A rich and flavorful barbecue sauce with the perfect balance of sweet pineapple, smoky bourbon, and tangy vinegar. Ideal for grilling season or adding a gourmet touch to your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine pineapple juice and bourbon. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.
  3. Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Stir to combine.
  4. Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool. The sauce will thicken more as it cools.
  6. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Enjoy with your favorite grilled meats!

Notes

  • For a smokier flavor, use smoked paprika or add a dash of liquid smoke.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, let it simmer longer until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • This sauce pairs beautifully with grilled chicken, pork, and even roasted vegetables.
